nagkekwentuhan kami ni bex kanina..... i was able to tell her na falfak ang pinatahi kong gown kasi masikip sa akin tapos ginawan lang ng paraan but i am still cramped in it..... sayang she mentioned na may gownmaker pala syang kilala na mas mura pa labor fee.

anyway, i told her na dapat pala on the look out na ako ng sale na damit pang attend ng kasal kasi iba pa rin ang ready-made kita mo agad kung kasya at fit sa 'yo. Hindi ko talaga take ang regular price kasi nga sa laki kong 'to. Sabi ko tutal classic naman ang style usually ng formal wear kaya pwede pang isuot kahit in the future pa. Tutal ang dami pa namang susunod na ikakasal -- si kler, HV, weeyah, si bex, kawen he he he. Alam ko na -- sa kasal ni KMO!

Ha ha ha JB call us baduy but we watched "A Very Special Love" last night with bex and HV! Nakitawa at nakiiyak kami with the moviegoers! We enjoyed the movie! Ang cute cute ni papa john lloyd! Sinamahan nila ako bumili ng "waist reducer" he he he. Then light dinner at Le Coueur de France then headed home!

HB Moment # 4: Umagang Kay Ganda...Sana

My Tatay's going on mission to Hanoi next week. As early as two weeks ago, I already booked his flights as we know that it'll be difficult to confirm seats. But last week, we got a confirmation. Also last week, Thursday to be exact, I got his MAR endorsed and submitted the TRA to Travel. I then called AMEXCO to inform them that I will be submitting the TRA and that as soon as it is processed, they can issue the ticket. Good thing I did this because it was only then that was I informed of the ticketing deadline...which was the following day!!!

So I rushed my TRA to Travel. Tagged it with URGENT tab and a note that says "TICKETING DEADLINE TOMORROW".

Given the circumstances, I knew it was okay to assume that I can pick up our ticket anytime this week. So I called them several times. But no answer. No return calls either.

I was only able to talk to someone today. And guess what I was told? "Ma'am i-checheck ko po sa Travel kung na-process na ang TRA nyo." Umakyat na ang dugo sa ulo ko because I know we have a deadline and it's already Wednesday. How come they haven't processed my TRA when they know we have a deadline. GGGrrrrr...!!!! "What? Eh diba, may deadline tayo nung Friday?!" "Oo nga po eh. Tsaka na-cancelan po tayo. Yung Hongkong Hanoi sector po waitlisted."

Pagkatapos natikman nya ang latigo ni Clarita.

Ay may HB moment na naman ako sa in-house travel agent natin. Medyo mahaba....my boss ("tatay") will go to Copenhagen, I called them kung saang embassy nila ipapasok kasi we might follow up due to time constraint. They said sa Norway.....fine. Tapos nalaman ko sa French Embassy nila ni-file. Sabi ko bakit dun nila pinasok sabi nila sa Norway e kung mag-follow up pala kami sa Norwegian embassy wala dun ang papers ng tatay ko. Sabi sa akin ay di po ba sa France sya pupunta? Sabi ko hindi sa Copenhagen sya pupunta for the nth time at nasa form yun. Kung ano-anong sinabi until ang last reason nila mas madali daw kasi mag-release ng schengen visa ang French Embassy. Fine, natahimik ako. I just waited for the release of the visa. Until, na-release na ang visa pero mali ang date--entry date nya ay ang date na ng conference nya so dapat earlier ang entry date, sabi ko papalitan nila. Then I got a call:

agent: ms. carmie, hindi na natin ulit ito mapapasok sa French embassy kasi wala ng france ang itinerary nya. Please prepare a new form then we'll file it at Norwegian Embassy.
me: Huwaat, hindi pwede wala na akong time. At saka bakit hindi pwede ulit ipasok sa French embassy e sila na nag-issue nyan.
agent: kasi po dati sa itinerary na sinubmit natin may france na itinerary nya e ngayon po sa revised itinerary nya wala na pong france.
me: Sabi ko hello, eversince walang france sa itinerary nya, I'm 100% sure kaya kung dati tinanggap nila, syempre tatanggapin pa din nila yan.
agent: e may france po talata.
me: aber aber fax nyo nga sa akin ang itinerary na sinubmit nyo.
they faxed it........

Pagkita ko ang nakalagay kasi sa orig itinerary nya ang return nya ay via Frankfurt kaya 3-airline code ay FRA. Kaya sabi nila part ng itinerary nya ang FRAnce.

Ka-high blood!!! ka-HB to the max.....hello, travel agent pa naman kayo ang FRA ba ay France. E dapat PAR o kaya kung airport code ay CDG or ORY!

Last night was badminton day in opis and most of the HBs were there to play their tourney games (mawee, haze, and kler joined the tourney) and the others to Q & H (queue and heckle). Hecklers on the courts!

Tuesday nights are always awaited by the HBs as it's badminton night. And aside from playing badminton, we engage in our favorite pasttime while waiting on queue which is - HECKLING the players.

After last night, I think heckling should be elevated as a sport in itself. The HBs outdid themselves, shouting at the top of their voices. And the subject of the heckling....poor lil moi.

I was still bitin after about 4 or 5 games so I played one more game with Amie, Daryl, and Mylene. Bah...really hard to concentrate on the game as the heckling drowned out everything. We were the only ones playing so these hecklers really pored it on.

At one point, Bex was shouting at Mylene about her diet. Mylene is really really slim and Bex wanted to know what she ate. Did she eat rice at all, what she has for breakfast, etc. etc. Well I thought this was a waste of time since she never takes advice about dieting and exercising. So I shouted back saying:

Ba't ka ba tanong ng tanong ng diet ni Mylene e hindi mo naman gagawin!

After that...complete silence. Hmmm.....what happened kaya....no rebuttal? I guess they can dish it out but they can't take it ;-)

ha ha ha naalala ko lang as in casually, naturally, when I saw CF sa badminton court sa opis, sabi nya "mama carms may BF na ako". And I am so happy for her. I even had a chance of meeting him when we went to D and B's place at nabinyagan sya dun ni LV na lahat ng mga BFs ng barkada ay dumaan sa pang-aasar at panghahalay nya ha ha ha. Matira matibay. Second time I met him was when he and CF paid a visit during my father's wake. Thanks papa J.

CRT: when JB was going near the court where their quorum will play and it was near my area where I was seated, JB, without glasses, was trying to figure out who I was.... I think. I said, hindi mo pa pala ako narerecognize (kasi alam kong ganun sya pag walang mata, este salamin) e bakit nag-wave ka na sa akin na parang as if nakilala mo na ako.

actually i'm so thankful to badminton for leading the way for us HB friends in this blog to be together. I'm happy that we're now berks. Kasi actually dati akala ko suplading is chubbytoo, si HV at si JB. Si RR at si CF friendly-looking naman talaga kaya lang wala namang magko-konek sa amin. Si KM naman alam ko ibang level sya kasi mataas ang height! (hanubako).

8Jan08 - our first Tue badminton game in opis for 2008! There were quite a lot of players. As Jimmi asked, "why so many players today"? I replied, many want to lose the calories from last holidays' OE (overeating) he he he.

After the games, we ate at mexicalli, mwah, bex, reeyah, haze, and ces. It was my first time at Mexicalli kasi baka kako lasang arabo - in fairness, masarap pala. Nakakainis sila soup lang daw order nila hhmp! (ka HB). Anyhow, riot na naman sa kwentuhan at halakhakan! May blooper pa nga si reeyah e i forgot lang, si bex ang kausap nya.

We talked about Solar sports not in skycable anymore, it has moved to Destiny (due to network war????). Me, I changed cable provider for 2 reasons dahil nga wala ng solar sports e i love watching badminton games dun but major factor is to cut down on monthly expenses. I am paying 1,000 per month with sky, but with destiny only half of it. I compared the channels, i told myself that i can get away without national geographic (this is nice and educational pero sa totoong buhay hindi ko rin naman to halos napapanooran dahil naaantok ako he he he). No ANC rin at Star Movies, etc. Pwede na rin dahil nga nagtitipid ako e. Oks lang with my kids for as long as Disney Channel, CN, and Nick are there -- may plus pa Playhouse Disney, which is available for platinum subscribers only in Skycable.

Ha ha ha we even discussed how super aliw yung Chika Mo! Chika Ko! show at UnTV. Grabe okrayan and sabi nila, ang sarap daw ng feeling na nuetural sila kaya whether kapuso or kapamilya inookray nila. I said, kung papiliin ako to watch bet. HBO/Nat'l Geographic or Chika Mo, I think I'll be glued to watching it than HBO bwa ha ha!

Been feeling harrassed today, especially this morning. There has been no end to the edits in the Budget Document. And unending follow ups from departments regarding comments on papers we could care less about or approval on extensions of their staff consultants (why give it to us a day before COSO deadline???). It came to a point where I put "Call Later" on my phone. But this exchange with Becky restored my good humor.

BACKGROUND: I'm arranging my boss' mission to SRI. In her itinerary, she will be staying two nights in SIN, one night of which will be on her personal account. Yesterday, I received a call from Special Agent informing me of a tax charge because of the two nights.

Special Agent: Ma’am, aware naman po si Staff X na may tax na i-chacharge sa kanya na Y amount for staying in SIN diba?
Ako: Huh? We weren't informed.
Special Agent: So ihohold ko po muna ang processing ng TRA nya?
Ako: Okay. Can you send me a written explanation about this? As I need to inform my boss that there is such a charge.

Maayos ang usapan.

Several minutes later, I received an e-mail with a PROFORMA INVOICE. No explanation, whatsoever. I called and asked what it was for, I also sent an e-mail addressed to the sender, and to Special Agent X reminding her of the written explanation.

After 5pm. Nothing.

This morning, I called their trunkline looking for Special Agent X.

Ako: Hi, can you please connect me to Special Agent X?
Operator: May I know who's calling Ma'am?
Ako: This is worst nightmare.
Operator: Okay, please hold Ma'am.

Was put on hold for 1 minute

Operator: Hi Ma'am, tungkol daw po saan ito? Sabi po nya na-process na daw po yung TRA ni Staff X.

My thought balloon: Aba! At nagmamaganda?! Tungkol saan?! Director ka na hindi pwedeng tawagan? At kailangan i-screen?

Ako (controlling my temper): Please tell her this is regarding the tax charge for Staff X. I just want to follow up the email that I asked from her. Can I talk to her please?
Special Agent: Yes, ma'am?
Ako: Hi, Impakta, na-send mo na ba yung e-mail na hinihingi ko kahapon?
Special Agent: Nag-email na daw sila kahapon ah. Tsaka nag bigay ka na daw ng "Go" dun sa TRA.
Ako: Wala akong natanggap na e-mail. Ang natanggap ko proforma lang, na wala man lang explanation kung para saan yun. I need an explanation why we are being charged for this which I can forward to Staff X. At hindi ako nagbigay ng go.
Special Agent: Yun na nga po yun. Yung proforma para sa tax.

Ako: Special Agent, hindi ba humihingi ako ng e-mail, written explanation, kung para saan yung tax? I sent an e-mail to you about this.
Special Agent: Ah okay. Sige po, ipapapull out ko sa front desk yung e-mail nyo para masagot kayo.
Ako: And one more thing Special Agent, hindi ba kami pwedeng tumawag sayo? Kasi parang nakakabastos na pag tatawag ako sayo babalik pa sa akin yung operator para lang tanungin kung tungkol saan yung tawag ko.
Special Agent: Eh kasi po Ma'am sinescreen lang main yung calls. Kasi meron namang iba na pwedeng ihandle ng front desk.
Ako: Pero when I called asking for you, it means that I need you. Not any agent. Right? Tapos may sasabihin pa yung operator nyo na hindi ko naman primary concern.
Special Agent: Ah okay. Sige po, sasabihan ko ang operator.

I got tired. It seems she's not getting my point so I hung up.

When you're a service provider, the first thing you have to do is LISTEN, and you have to do this really well to satisfy your customers. LISTEN. If you fail to listen the first time, I assure you your suggestion box will be full in no time.

Salad Night (MNO)

We were all feeling the effects of these night outs in terms of added weight and tighter clothes. So for last night, Rhea suggested we just watch a movie at my place and stop by the grocery to buy salad stuff.

After gymming, Karen, Rhea and I met at the main lobby and proceeded to Robinson's Supermarket and bought the ingredients with our Coop gift checks :)

As soon as we got to my place, Karen and Rhea got busy in the kitchen. I looked at what movies I had. Something light.

We watched an episode of Ugly Betty and half of the movie the 40 Year Old Virgin.

And here are our masterpiece(s): Salad a la Italianni's Sicilian, Vinaigrette, Foccacia Bread, and Durian.

Sadly, the durian was spoiled na. Still, we had fun stuffing ourselves. Healthy naman right?

The intersection of East and West Capitol drive in Kapitolyo Pasig is always busy specially in the morning. I always use the pedestrian lane when crossing the streets … Anyway, this is my second experience where a driver didn’t slow down when they passed the pedestrian lanes. The first one, I let it go because it was raining and he was making a turn, therefore, didn’t see me. But the second one – my goodness! – the lady driver already saw me crossing the street two or three meters away! She was driving a bit fast but hesitated when she saw me but to my surprise she continued with her speed as she was getting near me… did she want me to make a run so she won’t need to slow down?!?!... my gosh!!! the nerve!... she only stopped when she was about to hit me, I stared at her and told her in a loud voice (which I hoped she heard inspite of her closed windows) “THIS IS A PEDESTRIAN LANE (pointing at to those white lines), YOU SHOULD SLOW DOWN!!!” … and then I walked on… I saw her shocked face though… but I was still fuming… and remembered my trip to Colombo where even the tuktuk drivers slow down on pedestrian lanes… I felt sad thinking of my beloved country with such unethical drivers! Then again, it made me reflect: am I one of them?

O yan, Mawee, as promised… I made a blog na… hehehe…

The Introduction: Finally!

It was 12 June. Independence Day. After an all-morning badminton games, we headed to Persiana, an Indian restaurant along the busy Street of Pioneer, Mandaluyong. We slumped on this long table which comfortably sits 8 famished addicts (holiday na nga, pumasok pa sa opisina para maglaro ng badminton). Cler suggested the resto so we asked her for recommendations. Order here, order there. You can imagine the buzzing of the table - 7 hot ladies and a lone hunk! Talking all at the same time - hecklin', shoutin', laughin', and bitchin'! And we were all bondats! Since we stuffed ourselves, you might think we calmed down after that. Nah ah! Everyone was hyper - every conversation was carried out in high pitch tone, full of angst! Until one of us hot blooded chick got carried away with her kwento that another chick had to check her pulse on the neck, uttering, "High blood ka ba???!!!" Everyone had a good laugh at that scene and since then "high blood ka ba" or HB for short has been used in every opportunity. Like, EVERY opportunity. You think it ended here? Nope. In the spirit of spontaneity, one chick suddenly suggestted that we go for coffee and dessert at.......... Tagaytay City! And off we went to Tagaytay (minus the lovely couple C&M). The roadtrip was non-stop hecklin' shoutin' laughin' and bitchin' plus getting lost in Highway 41 (it refers to Exit 41 but for some reason, we call it Highway 41). Caveat: Don't you dare get lost on a road trip. You will never hear the end of it. Never.

There you go - the intro on how the blog name came to be. How about the highlights of the day? It's worth posting, too!

K had a chocolate bar as palaman for her tinapay. Seriously.

Nag-sleepover ang ilan sa HB sa bahay namin sa Bataan. Inilabas ko ang kumot na sort-of-cashmere ang material para sa kanila. Nilapag ko ito sa kama.

Reeya: O, ano yan?
Ako: Kumot para sa inyo.
Reeya: Mainit yang ganyang klaseng kumot! Ang init na nga, magkukumot pa ng ganyan!
Ako: Eh kasi baka mamayang madaling araw, malamigan kayo. Lumalamig kasi kapag madaling araw...

Ako: Itatago ko na lang?

10:12am: Mawie agrees to train Reena and Howard starting tonight IF and only if Reena gets a court. Reeyah volunteers to be Mawie’s assistant (will play for free food hehe).

1:59pm: Walang makitang court si Reena. So looks like the training will not push through.

2:12pm: No courts available according to Reena. Reeyah calls this badminton court in Kapitolyo, WD (8 wood; 4 rubber mats; 4 cement courts). They have a lot of vacant courts but they do not accept reservations by phone from non-members. But assures that courts will still be available from 6pm up.

3:22pm: Reena realizes that Howard’s badminton clothes are with him and he will only be leaving Binondo at 6pm. Chances of playing tonight is getting dim.

3:33pm: Reeyah decides to just go to the gym instead. Mawie plans to window shop and then go the doctor for her allergy shots (6-8pm).

4:54pm: Mawie informs Reeyah that it’s a go. To play from 6-8pm. Mawie tries to call Reena for confirmation but Reena is away from her desk.

5:07pm: No answer from Reena. Mawie is upset because she still has to go home and change clothes. She says, “tinawagan ko di sumasagot grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…ay naku forget it!…ayoko na…di sumasagot ng phone.”

5:12pm: Reeyah: Gusto mo ba maglaro or hindi?????? Mawie: Gusto ko, kasi i really don’t feel like gym but baddy i can drag myself. Sige going na ko. Me: E yun naman pala e, go kunin mo na, sabay naman tayo punta don e.

5:31pm: Reeyah receives an external call. Si Mawie pala. Mawie: Any update? Me: Ha…Wala…I’ll call Miriam. Finally gets Reena on the phone: Me: Are we still on? Tuloy pa ba? Reena: Meron court pero walk-in sa WD…pero tatlo lang tayo, si Howard 6pm pa alis from Binondo…cancel na lang natin. Lalaro naman tayo ng Monday diba? Si Mawie? Me: Umuwi para kumuha ng gamit. Okay. I will call Mawie to tell her hindi na tuloy. Me with Mawie (on landline): Hindi na tuloy. 6pm pa daw makakaalis si Howard from Binondo. Babalik ka pa dito? Mawie: Ah okay. Yup, babalik ako. Sige, bye. Click.

5:33pm: Reena calling me sa phone. Me: Yup? Reena: Tumawag ako sa bahay. Asa bahay na si Carmela, walang siyang assignment. Kaya pala di tumatawag…tuloy na lang tayo! Kahit tatlo lang tayo? Me (panicking): Sige, tawagan ko na si Mawie. Magtatawag ako. Kung wala, okay lang sa akin kung tatlo lang tayo. Click.

…after 3 minutes…Cler: Parang dyan tayo galing. We were back to where we started.

Mawie: Mali kayo! Si Reena talaga oh.

On medicine related topic again, I have excess medicines at home, sometimes I forgot what the medicines are for, I mean, for which sickness. Good thing that Mercury drugstore has this "search" facility so I could easily check the medicines by keyword, manufacturer, etc. We can shop medicine online, too. But I wish the pricelist are available in the website, too.

My son Ambeh prefers to take medicines in tablet form already. The Jr. size ones, he can easily swallow, but the bigger one, he still finds it difficult to take. My hubby can cut it by using kitchen scissors but I bought him this tablet cutter, just in case, di nyo pa feel na there's this product in mercury drugstore already.

Also, we sometimes cut tablets not just for the above purpose, sometimes my son had to take a 325 mg. tablet but the available in the market is only 250 mg., the doctor said I let him take 1.5 tablets so I have to cut 1 tablet, too......... or vice versa.
